Project Scope

In 2004 DGA completed preliminary design on a new prototypical subway entry structure developed by Dattner Architects for New York City Transit. The first installation is located at the Bowling Green Station in lower Manhattan, across from NYCT/MTA headquarters at 2 Broadway. Responding to the transparent glass scheme, multiple lighting design options were developed and presented to NYCT Engineering staff. The solutions explored a host of alternative light sources including compact ceramic metal halide, reduced profile T5 fluorescents and white LEDs technologies and examined a wide variety of techniques for maintainable, effective lighting.
